I’m not going to say something unholy like I’m sick of the classic Melbourne smashed avo breakfast, but I’m always open to new forms of avocado. So, who has come along to answer my avocado-related prayers but Grill’d.
The burger chain has done what only so few of us have dared to do – chuck some avocado in a deep fryer and see what madness ensues.
Again, there’s nothing wrong with the classic potato chip format – I’ve literally written songs about how much I love chippies. But I’m all for dunking whatever you can find in a deep fryer and changing it up a bit. Grill’d is already nailing it with the zucchini and sweet potato fries, so these heavenly avo bites are gonna be something special.
Coated in turmeric and quinoa, they’ll come with that sweet chilli mayo we all love so much we could drink it with a straw.
They’ve come to select stores in Melbourne for only a limited time so you’ll have to be quick.
Now, the revelation that Grill’d can serve me up some avo chippies was tear-jerkingly great – but was surpassed by the simple question that followed: can I make these at home?!
