From $4 scoops and fresh, small batch gelato, Ciccone & Sons in Redfern is our new favourite artisanal gelato joint in Sydney. Vintage and minimalist decor, owners/gelato makers Mark Megaher and Sean O’Brien have kept it simple – to focus on their fantastic gelato and they’re doing it pretty well.
Having worked at Bariotelli for over 21 years making gelato, an expired contract was the ultimate opportunity for Mark to open his own place. Making smooth gelato and flavoursome sorbetto from scratch, flavours change weekly and only the finest and freshest ingredients are used; such as Pepe Saya’s buttermilk and mascarpone. No pre-made, artificial bullshit!
The original classics such as vanilla and chocolate are available, but also delicious salted caramel, salted cashew and more. If there are flavours crossed out on the brown paper, they’re obviously sold out and would have to wait to till the next week to try them.
