YUM CHA REVIEW | RICE PAPER SCISSORS

Same Same But Different.

Yum Cha is far from boring, but the talented team at Rice Paper Scissors managed to spice it up – literally. The flavoursome and zesty spread they served up to us at their Thai-inspired all-you-can-eat event was giving us LIFE.

Food Porn went along to the Thai-inspired Same Same But Different and were treated to the most delectable finger foods and cocktails imaginable. We had flavoursome and zesty tiger prawns, tender, juicy and sticky pork, the perfect-est charred corn you’ll ever taste… the list goes on.

To finish the dish, we were treated to a creamy, rich and mouth-watering Thai pandan custard with vanilla ice cream. It was life changing.

Our highlight – an equal tie between the “morning glory” with its tangy oyster sauce and perfectly sautéed greens, and the street food-esque calamari with a beautiful kaffir lime after taste.

The cocktails were from another planet. From sweet to sour to fruity to literally on fire, it was an inventive and creative list of drinks that constantly surprised us. Would HIGHLY recommend their Vietnamese Espresso Martini. It’s perfectly creamy with a hint of chocolate – beautiful.

Each themed night will have its own specialised cocktail menu, and we CAN’T wait to see what they come up with next.

Next year, the Fitzroy branch of Rice Paper Scissors is hosting four extravagant Yum Cha dinner events each with a different Asian cuisine.

It’s definitely not an event to miss if you like to consider yourself a foodie.

Booking is essential!
