Walking passed the Excelsior Hotel in Surry Hills everyday and smelling the mouthwatering aroma of tacos finally had me stepping into El Loco.
A Mexican-inspired pub filled with green cactus and luscious greenery, multi-coloured seating, Day of the Dead skulls, and of course, TACOS!
Don’t expect a full-on fancy restaurant experience. You’re bound to have a great time with $5 tacos, margarita slushies and an endless amount of Corona.
With only 30 minutes to spare, I skimmed through the simple menu and ordered the Carne Asada – lemongrass beef, salsa verde & Queso, the Camaron – fresh prawn, salsa verde & pico de gallo and to drink, the JALAPENO MARGARITA – Espolon Reposado Tequila, Cointreau, roasted jalapeno syrup, freshly pressed lime juice, wash of llegal Mezcal.
Packed with fresh ingredients and perfectly cooked, full of flavour, delicious and cheap – definitely coming back for more of these tacos. Well done El Loco and the Merivale group.
