Family-owned and operated Candelori’s Ristorante e Bar has developed a reputation for its authentic Italian food and unpretentious dining experiences. Hence why we had to go.
Being the awesome son that I am, I took my mother along as we were kindly invited by the beautiful people at Wasamedia. Spotting a rather fantastic renovation by acclaimed designers DS17, they’ve added a huge 17 meter marble clad open kitchen, giving us a front row seat to all the cooking action. A sleek new glass-encased wine tower has been installed to give customers their own option to choose and drink up in style.
Rocking up on an empty stomach, we pounced onto the menu and ordered straight away. For entree, we ordered a plate of perfectly pan-fried mixed olives with rosemary, dry chilli tossed through extra virgin olive oil and orange zest. The fig, prosciutto and rocket bruschetta followed and was drizzled with reduced balsamic and virgin olive oil on wood fired ciabatta bread which has now become our all time favourite bruschetta EVER. The fig and prosciutto came together on the tongue befittingly. A truly exeptional fusion.
Giving ourselves a moment to get our heads around how exotic the entree was, the mains had to be requested. Enticed by the seductive flames coming from the pizza oven, a margherita with tomato, buffalo mozzarella, basil and extra virgin olive oil was ordered. Out came this flawless pizza, a thin and soft base perfectly baked allowing you to taste all that magical flavour. Along with a bowl of fresh god sent tagliatelle porcini with luscious housemade pork sausage, thin ribbon pasta made in-house pan tossed with porcini & chiodini mushrooms, cream, truffle oil & sage. And for insalate aka salad, a medley of fresh succulent heirloom cherry tomatoes mixed between basil, shaved garlic, Spanish onion, red wine vinegar and lightly drizzled with extra virgin olive oil.
Knew I should’ve worn my fat pants. It’s time for dessert and after having a 5 minute chat with our hilarious waitress, the Bombollini won us over. Warm ricotta and lemon donuts dusted with cinnamon and drizzled with honey and pistachio nuts, served with vanilla bean gelato. A spoonful of this incredibly soft textured donuts together with the vanilla bean gelato feels like a party in your mouth. An definite explosion of immense flavours.
All in all, an impeccable night filled with great customer service and perhaps, Western Sydney’s best and finest authentic Italian food. This place is amazing and I’l definitely be coming back to Candelori’s real soon. Also a huge thank you to Wasamedia for inviting us.
