The Melbourne Food and Wine Festival started as an idea by Peter Clemenger back in 1993. More than twenty years later, it has grown to host over 200 events annually, with food and wine lovers attending in droves of hundreds and thousands each year, filling up Melbourne’s labyrinthine network of restaurants, laneways, lights-turned-down basements and dizzying rooftops as well as spilling into spectacular regional Victoria.
This year’s Melbourne Food and Wine Festival is presented by Bank of Melbourne (27 February – 15 March 2015) and will take a journey to new frontiers of flavour for 17 days of delectable events across the city and state.
The Melbourne Food and Wine Festival 2015 is gathering together some of the finest culinary minds in the world including Dan Barber (Blue Hill, New York), Matt Abergel (Yardbird Hong Kong) and Ruth Rogers (River Café, UK), alongside many more.
It brings together Australia and the world’s most talented chefs and winemakers for you to eat, drink, learn or just celebrate over 17 days in March. Melbourne’s unique culinary spirit will pop-up in an artisan bakery rising daily in the heart of the city; a long lunch for 1,600 weaving through a leafy oasis; the Festival opening party and many other unique experiences.
From famous dining spots to unexpected venues, rooftop bars to hidden cellars, plus extraordinary locations across regional Victoria, each year the Festival goes beyond eating and drinking to create memory-making experiences.
