24ct Gold Tea? Yes, we tried a potful At Platos whilst staying at Atlantis The Palm in Dubai just before Christmas and well, it was as a good as tea can get.
The Yellow Gold Tea Buds by TWG Tea are one of the rarest teas in the world and we were lucky enough to be able to experience such an unforgettable tea.
Each tea bud is lavished in 24-carat gold, which once infused, yields a delicately metallic and floral aftertaste.
This yellow ginseng tea was once reserved for Chinese emperors only, and grown on only one hillside in Sichuan province. It is harvested on one day of the year using golden scissors, cutting only the yellow tea buds at the top of the plant.
The best way to serve this tea is to pour 75 degree water over 2.5g of tea leaves per cup and infuse for 4 to 4 minutes. Remove leaves and serve.
It’s served at Plato’s Arabic Coffee House for around AED 180 (approx. $68 AUD) per pot served with one of the available pastries.
Check out Plato’s page on the Atlantis The Palm website for more information.
Plato’s is located inside the hotel lobby at Atlantis The Palm in Dubai.
