A concept thats been teased for some time now, Uber recently showed off its UberEats delivery drone at a Forbes 30 Under 30 Summit.
With the ability to carry one meal for two people and a range of 12 miles, it has a flight duration of 8 minutes and can take off vertically with its 6 propellers.
The plan isn’t to have these drones deliver direct to customer just yet. These will ”pick up” the food from the restaurants then deliver to riders at a specific location who will deliver to the customer. According to Uber’s announcement, the company hopes to be able to land drones on top of parked Uber vehicles near delivery destinations.
A TechCrunch article states that Uber plans to test out these crazy delivery drones next summer in San Diego.
